Like so many other successful businesses that have stood the test of time, Tri-State Marine began with a simple idea, some determination and an old garage. From its humble beginnings assembling boat trailers in that old garage in Washington, D.C., it would have been hard to see what would result 56 years later. Nonetheless, Tom and Mary Beth Magenau, with 2 children in tow, built on their dream by moving their small business to Deale, MD in 1968 — chosen because it was the closest access point to the Chesapeake Bay from Washington, D.C. – with easy accessibility from Baltimore and Annapolis. Once there, they began assembling all of the components to build what would eventually become what Tri-State Marine is today — considered by many to the be leading marine sales and services dealer in the Chesapeake Bay Region. That is not to say that there weren't many trials and learning along the way — all of which gave us our unmistakable character and enviable marine knowledge. And, while Tri-State Marine has long been a leading dealer for Grady-White since 1974 , it is little known that we once also sold North American boats in the late 1960’s, Santana Sailboats in the 1970’s, Tracker Boats during the 1980’s and Carolina Skiffs in the 1990’s.

Today, we are very pleased to represent two of the best boat brands found anywhere, Grady-White and Parker Offshore — not to mention enduring relationships with Yamaha, Garmin, Fusion and EZ Loader Trailers. We’re even more proud of what we have been able to provide the DC, VA and MD communities throughout the years — no doubt a lifetime of fun and many cherished memories. While Tri-State Marine is under the leadership of its next generation of owners, our legacy persists with many of the same people that built Tri-State Marine to what it is today — many of whom will also carry the legacy forth for many years to come.
